As lovers of fashion, one of our favourite times of the year has to be the Adelaide Fashion Festival. South Australia's premiere fashion event gets bigger and better every year, and the 2018 event is set to go to the next level.
Curated by Events SA and Creative Director Chris Kontos, the 5 day program features runway events, masterclasses and some extremely fashionable lunches. Whether you're a lover of couture or just love to wear SA every day, there's a variety of fashion on show.
As hard a task as it is we've picked our Top 5 events from the 2018 program, but make sure to head to the Adelaide Fashion Festival website and check out all of the other events and get your tickets!
1 - AFF Runway 1 - Contemporary V Street: A South Australian showcase
With so many incredible homegrown designers here in SA, it's easier than ever to buy and wear local. The Contemporary V Street runway features so many of the state's best ready to wear clothing and accessory designers, which you can so easily shop in local stores and online. The event features Acler, The Daily Edited, Stephanie Chehade and Simmone Standing, to name a few. You'll also see the new designs from 2016-17 Millinery ambassador Sylvy Earl, who has been popping up in Vogue throughout the year!
2 - Myer Runway
Who doesn't love a free fashion show! You may have seen news that Australia model, celebrity and former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins is heading to Adelaide for the AFF this year, and she'll be front and centre at the Myer Runway to celebrate the launch of new collecitons from Acler, Finders, Alex Perry and more. It's a free event, so you just need to register to enjoy this evening of fashion, DJs and other fun actviations at Myer in Rundle Mall.
3 - Vogue's Kitchen with Edwina McCann
Fashion and food inevitably meet, and at no better time than at Vogue's Kitchen, aptly named after the hosting restaurant Sean's Kitchen. Vogue Australia is looking to be a bigger part of this year's AFF, bringing the Festival to a national and international stage. Editor in Chief Edwina McCann will speak at the Vogue's Kitchen luncheon with writer Alison Kubler, while you have a beautiful lunch and sip on bubbles. Sounds like a day out we want to be a part of!
4 - Masterclass: On Trend with David Shah and Glynis Traill-Nash
So many Fashion at The Races winners are those that know how to style their outfit to a T - they may not be wearing the newest designers, but they have an eye for coordinating accessories, colours and trends. The Masterclass events features conversation with David Shah, one of the world's leading authorities in colour and style. Speaking with The Australia's fashion editor Glynis Traill-Nash, the two are sure to give some incredible tips on fashion, trend forecasting, textiles and more. If you're a creative, student, budding designer or milliner, or just a lover of fashion, this is unmissable!
5 - AFF Runway 6 - Paolo Sebastian S/S 18 Couture
We couldn't be luckier here in Adelaide to be home to one of the not just Australia, but the World's leading couture designers. Okay, we lied. It was too hard to pick just 5 events, as we can't forget the runway event by BNKR. Australian Fashion Labels this year celebrates 10 years in the fashion industry, growing from one label in the living room of an Adelaide home, to become a global brand dominating runways, wardrobes and Instagram accounts.
