Race Wear Inspiration in the Adelaide Fashion Festival

Spring, the time of year we all yearn for after months of rain, wind and tempreatures below 15 degrees. It's also one of the most exciting times of the year in South Australia, with festivals starting, Spring/Summer collections hitting stores across the state, and with that, plenty of race wear inspiraiton.

The 2016 Adelaide Fashion Festival kicks off on October 19 and we couldn't be more excited to check out all of the South Australian designers on the AFF runway, located right in the heart of the city in Victoria Square. From out of this world couture styles, to totally wearable trends for every day, there'll be plenty to offer for the race wear world. “It’s all happening in October … it’s like the new March,” said Chris Kontos, the new creative director of the AFF. Having previously been the head designer of TY-LR, Kontos is more than qualified to be continuing the rise of the AFF on the Australian fashion landscape.

For day at the races and the Fashion at The Races competition, what can make a winning look even better is if it's made by a South Australian designer. There is so much creativity and high quality design here in SA that's so readily available. We've gone through the AFF program and picked out the most exciting events for race wear, and tickets are still available!

RUNWAY 1: BNKR

We can't go past the first runway of the AFF by the FATR Major sponsor BNKR. There'll be plenty of pieces fit for a day at the races, with a showcase of BNKR's labels Keepsake The Label, C/MEO Collective, Finders Keepers,The Fifth and Jaggar. Look out in particular for Keepsake The Label, which in particular we hear will have some stunning pieces for a race day.

SOUTH OZ DESIGNER MARKET

Sometimes the best race day accessories and head pieces are not from the major department stores, but made by local designers and makers, where you can easily find one of a kinds no one else has. The South Oz Designer Market will be on for 2 days on October 21 and 22, and will feature a myriad of jewellery, headwear and other accessory designers. We're particularly excited to see pieces from Millicent Elizabeth, Cinquante, and of course our millinery ambassador Sylvy Earl.

Styled by Nicole Bonython-Hines, the first Australian fashion identity to bring this look to runways around Australia, the show will include one of the most exciting new SA labels, Acler, alongside Naomi Murrel, Elizabeth V, Good Studios and of course, Sylvy Earl millinery. Finished off with accessories by The Daily Edited and legendary RM Williams footwear, this show is sure to be sometAcler AFFhing we haven't seen before.
