There’s nothing like a day at The Races, and what better way to celebrate Spring Racing Carnival than Melbourne Cup hosted at Adelaide’s own Morphettville.
My day started early this year, feeding my 4 month old. Very different from every other year, where I usually had the pleasure of a little sleep in and spending hours getting ready.
MAKEUP
After that, I was straight into the city to get my makeup done, by one of my favourite makeup artists in Adelaide, Alisha from MAC at David Jones. We went for a soft smokey eye and nude lip, to make the eyes the feature.
OUTFIT
Nothing better than a last minute purchase, so when I was in DJ’s I nipped downstairs into the shoe department and picked up some gorgeous Kurt Geiger Pumps.
The finishing touches weren’t all last minute as prep for the day did start many weeks before when I was planning my outfit, and I had so much fun putting it together.
A few weeks before the event I popped in to see my girls at Denim Iniquity on King William Rd. They always have such gorgeous pieces, and they stock some of my favourite brands.
I fell in love with the Rebecca Vallance Lace Top, and thought pairing it with a tailored white pant would look feminine and fresh, just for something a little different. I know traditionally most would wear colour on this day, but I feel white on white is so spring.

MILLINERY
No race day outfit is complete without millinery.
I was lucky enough to wear one of Sylvy Earl's gorgeous crowns. I was looking to match that feminine feel with the lace, and it matched perfectly. The amount of time and effort that goes into Sylvys work is phenomenal, she is such a talented milliner. We are so lucky to have her in Adelaide, and get our hands on such amazing pieces.
FASHION AT THE RACES
This year I had the pleasure judging Fashion At The Races. It’s always a bit of fun. We had everything from bright colours, reds, monochrome prints and plain white. There was no particular trend this year.
The girl who won was fabulous in a soft orange coloured dress, with white accessories. It screamed Spring Racing!
There are more qualifying Fashion At The Races events that girls can enter into. The prizes are pretty amazing...
THE ROSE GARDEN
There was such a great turn out this year, everyone got into the spirit of Melbourne Cup. It can always be hard deciding what package or ticket option to select, but as soon as I saw The Rose Garden I knew that was the spot for me!
The Rose Garden was the perfect new addition to the races. A modern, sophisticated and super stylish area, with plenty of food and entertainment, even a style bar to touch up our glam.
I was also lucky enough to be invited into the Rose Gold Villa, thankyou to M One Eight Events, it was so lush and stunning inside. Morphetville together with The Races SA have done it again, another great year at The Melbourne Cup.
Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
