Since kicking off her career as a milliner, Sylvy Earl has come to be one of the most exciting new milliners in not just South Australia, but in the country too. This year's Fashion at The Races millinery ambassador has produced stunning pieces of headwear for our ambassadors Rosanna, Amelia and Jessica at various events around the state, and has been popping up around Adelaide on some of our most exciting influencers and personalities.
Sylvy recently took her work to the next level, collaborating with Vogue on their recent 2017 VAMFF Runway Show. Vogue curated a runway collection of some of the leading high fashion designers, combined with Australia's most exciting accessory designers including Mon Purse, Furla, Suzy O'Rourke, and our very own Sylvy Earl.
We spoke to Sylvy abou the collaboration to find out more!
Congratulations on your incredible collaboration with Vogue! Can you tell us how this came about?
Thank you! I was fortunate enough to be approached by Vogue to take part in their VAMFF runway presentation. It was a huge compliment to have this opportunity to work with Vogue, and to show my work alongside so many designers I admire.
Where did your inspiration come from, apart from Vogue!
Vogue were very trusting with their design brief. I took a very playful approach to the project- I wanted my 'Vogue' pieces to reflect my aesthetic, but I also wanted to have some fun and work on a slightly larger scale than what I would ordinarily.
Are there any more collaborations coming up you can tell us about?
I've been in touch with some amazing people and am excited to see some new projects out later this year, but there's nothing I can yell from the rooftops just yet- sorry!
Which looks are you loving from the winners of the competition so far? Any trends you are loving?
The ladies continue to out-do themselves with taking current fashion trends and translating them into race day looks with their own personal spin. For the gentlemen, I am loving seeing them split their outfit into separates and experiment with smart colour, print and texture combinations.
