Race Day Ready with The Style Bar

Hair, makeup, styling... There's a lot of preparation to consider when it comes to race days, and it's the best kind of preparation. Who doesn't love dolling up with a beautiful hair style, professional make up and well planned outfit to feel their best?

Sometimes though, scheduling all of these appointments can be a mission. Thankfully, we discovered The Style Bar, who is a one-stop-shop when it comes to race day prep.

Amy Smith, wo runs The Style Bar, is a whiz when it comes to all things hair and makeup, and apart from being able to do amazing race day beauty, can also assist with weddings, parties and other events!

We managed to get a few of Amy's secerts from her, who's put together her top tips so that you can recreate these styles at home for your next day at The Races.

The shoot was styled by Westfield's Senior Stylist Lauren Dilena, with Media Makeup creating beautiful makeup looks for the models.

Smooth Waves

1: Before using the curling wand, I prepped the hair with Evo's Icon Welder. Not only does it protect the hair, but helps hold the hair in place. Curl the hair with a curling wand, curling small sections at a time.

2: In addition to the icon welder, I set Andrea's hair with Builder's Paradise. It's the perfect hairspray to use when brushing out curls. It doesn't leave the hair cripsy or dry!

3: After brushing out the curls (I like to use Evo's Pete Paddle Brush), I finished Andrea's style with Love Touch which not only gives her blonde waves a smooth and glistening look, but also smells declicous!

Tousled Textured Waves

1: When curling the hair using the a curling wand, I use a sprinkle of Evo’s Haze Styling Powder, particularly around the crown sections. The styling powder gives amazing texture and assists in teasing (using my fav, the tyler teasing brush) to create volume. The powder allows me to transform Marisa’s slippery clean hair into textured, tousled waves.

2: After running my hands and some light brushing using the tyler brush through Marisa’s hair to break up the curl, I finish off with Evo’s Shebang-a-Bang Dry Spray Wax because it gives the ultimate textured loose waves, without the heaviness of traditional hairspray.
