Summer Racing Style

Summer racing - it combines so many things we love here in Australia. Warm weather, South Australian wine, and balmy afternoons and evenings trackside. With summer racing comes a slight amendment to the dress code when it comes to the races. Relaxed race wear is encouraged at many Summer racing events around the state, so it's time to swap heels for sandals, wool for linen, and headbands for hats.

The Twilight Races at Morphettville is one of the biggest Adelaide race meets of the year, with thousands set to hit the track for an afternoon and evening of racing, entertainment and trackside dining. There'll be bars, food trucks and DJs throughout the meet, so make sure to head to the website to find out more and to book.

If you're looking to enter Fashion at The Races over summer, there are plenty of opportunities. The Mount Gambier Gold Cup is the first event of the Summer on Friday, 1st of December, and will see a change of Mount Gambier's usual cooler weather Cup day.

Not long after that is the Bordertown Cup on the 10th of December, the Ceduna Cup on the 6th of January, and the Strathalbyn Cup on the 4th of February. There are plenty of oppotrunities to enter in your Summer best, so make sure to pop the dates in your diary.

Entrants are still encouraged to check out the judging criteria for events throughout Summer, where normal critera applies, but Summer fabrics and styles will definitely suit!

Warmer days trackside means some great changes to style. Think white linen, silk scarves, straw hats and pops of colour. We've gathered up a bit of inspiration for you to start, so you can get planning for a Summer of racing in SA!

Summer style 1

If there's any trend that has come about from Spring Carnival, it's silk scarves. So many of our favourite celebrities and bloggers were sporting silk scarves in a variety of ways over the Carnival, and it's definitely become one of the most versatile accessories you can own. Perfect for a summer race day, it will keep your hair off your neck and give you instant style.

Straw hats are where it's at. A casual straw hat is the perfect way to do millinery during summer when there are elements to battle. Aside from the fact they go with just about any outfit, you'll also be the most sun smart race goer on course. We love a black straw hat to bring a bit of drama to a day time look.

Summer style 3

You've got a champagne in one hand and a racebook in other, clutches aren't going to cut it. Over the shoulder bags are functional and fashionable, with all of the statement bags of the moment coming in the form of shoulder bags. You don't need to break the budget either, and why not even personalize with The Daily Edited

Summer style 4

Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow. Summer in SA is hot, and comfort is key on a hot day trackside. A beautiful, flowy maxi style dress will ensure you enjoy the races in comfort, but still keep your style in check.
