5 minutes with the winner of the 2018 Millicent Cup

Kimmi Varcoe took home the Best Dressed Womenswear prize at the 2018 Millicent Cup on Sunday April 29. It was her emerald silk number and turban inspired millinery that caught the judges eye. Growing up around race horses, Kimmi started coming to the races when she was just 5 years old - so it's no surprise that she knew a thing (or two) about racing style.

We spent 5 minutes with Kimmi after her win to get to know her a little more. Read on...

To win Fashion at The Races I wore: A Sheike dress, Helen Mary Millinery, shoes by Zizi and accessories by The Eight Letter earrings and a vintage fue cuffs

I started coming to The Races: When I was 5 years old, my parents had race horses.

I couldn’t do a day trackside without: Plenty of wine, bets and good company.

The last time I entered Fashions at The Races: Adelaide Cup in 2017.

My wardrobe looks: Over crowded but it's neat. Plenty of options for rain, hail or shine!

The most embarrassing thing I’ve ever worn is: Socks with thongs.

My favourite thing I own is: My Country Road jeggings.

What people might not know about me: I can play the ukelele and guitar.

Weekends look like: Netball and school preparation.

I love to indulge in: All Italian food.

My kind of day out is: Shopping and cocktails somewhere warm.

My bucket list includes: Going to the Swiss Alps.

I wish I could have a glass of bubbles with: Miley Cyrus.

This year I am looking forward to: Building a house.

I love The Races because: I can dress up in outfits that I can't wear down the street, bond with my mum over fashion and have a great time with friends.

Kimmi is a qualifying state finalist for Fashion at The Races 2017/18, marking the halfway point of the competition! To be sure you have a chance to win, make sure to dress your best at one of the next qualifying events. To see the full list of qualifying events click here
